Each Modified Basic Skills Book is a 48 page reproducible multisensory approach to strengthening basic skills and contains background information, easy-to-evaluate exercises, and a checklist for tracking success in:
Book 1 - Visual Memory Skills: Help students remember visual material such as shapes, numbers, and letters. Students touch, say, and write or arrange visual stimuli to help them become stronger learners.
Book 2 – Correcting Word Reversals: Short, well-tested activities improve visual tracking skills and stress correct letter and word formations. Auditory, visual, and tactile components are used as students identify the position of easily reversed letters in isolated words (was/saw, on/no, etc.). Contains clever, engaging illustrations.
Book 3 - Correcting Reversals: Humorous yet instructive drawings assist students in seeing and recalling how to form the commonly reversed numbers and letters: b, d, p, q, m, w, n, u, and s. Includes rhymes, memory games, and practice for remembering left, right, and which direction certain alphabet letters face.
Book 4 - Strengthening Visual Discrimination Skills: Memory and visual discrimination problems are tackled when students evaluate differences between pairs of playful, high-interest illustrations. Students recall and interpret information in scenes of increasing difficulty and learn to watch for and remember missing details. |
